Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Coastal Discovery Museum of Hilton Head Island had the rare opportunity to acquire a mid-1800s farm and plantation. The museum then commissioned WP to develop a master plan & Phase I Construction Documents for the Honey Horn site preserving public access to the last significant parcel of rural property remaining on the Island. Phase I development included restoration of the main house for use as a new discovery learning center and event garden; construction of numerous boardwalks and trails; interpretive signage and creation of new outdoor gathering spaces.
