PROJECT OVERVIEW

WP worked with the City of Charleston to develop Streetscape Plans for Market Street from Meeting Street to Concord Street. The Streetscape study provides improvements for this iconic area of Downtown Charleston. The studies reviewed several improvement options such as sidewalks, open space, materials used, landscape, wayfinding, movement and flow of pedestrian and vehicular traffic, safety, lighting, parking, connectivity, and sustainable balance of local tourist and public/private stakeholders. Our planning and design services will help guide the improvements to this well-known area located in the heart of Downtown Charleston. In addition, Davis & Floyd were selected to complete the market street drainage improvements following the completion of a detailed hydraulic study that accounted for challenging grades, soil types, and tidal conditions within the drainage basin.
